AI Content Policy
This page explains how CalcPanel uses AI assistance in producing its calculators and guides, and how that content is reviewed before publication. We are transparent about our process rather than presenting AI-assisted pages as the work of named individual engineers.
Our approach
CalcPanel is an independent publishing organization. Our calculators and guides are produced with AI-assisted drafting and editorial review. We do not claim that every guide was written by a named licensed engineer with specific years of field experience; we describe our actual process instead.
Where AI assists
1. Drafting guide text
- AI assists in drafting explanatory text, examples, and structure for our guides.
- All drafted text is editorially reviewed and corrected before publication.
- Formulas, assumptions, and standard references are verified by editors against the cited sources and our own calculators.
2. Calculator explanations
- Where a feature explains a calculation result, the explanation is generated from the user's actual inputs and the calculator's own logic.
- Such explanations are aids, not professional advice, and should be checked against the calculator and applicable standards.
What AI does not do
- Core calculations: Calculator formulas and logic are implemented by our team against recognized standards, not generated by an LLM at runtime.
- Professional judgment: AI does not perform engineering sign-off, site assessment, or code compliance review.
- Fabricated authority: We do not invent named authors, credentials, or field case studies to appear more authoritative.
Human and editorial oversight
- Published content is reviewed by editors for accuracy, clarity, and correct standard references.
- Standard citations are checked against official documentation.
- Examples are tested against the relevant calculator; where examples are illustrative, they are labeled as such.
- Reported errors are investigated and corrected.
Accuracy and transparency
- We clearly state that our content is AI-assisted and editorially reviewed.
- AI-powered explanation features are labeled as such.
- All calculation results come from our own implemented calculators, not from an LLM.
Responsibility
Calculators and guides are planning- and education-level aids. For any design affecting safety, code compliance, or equipment selection, have a licensed professional engineer review and stamp it. Local codes, utility requirements, and site-specific conditions may require adjustments to our calculations.
