Data Center Power Chain
One record from IT kW to rack density, PDU amps, UPS, and a step-down transformer frame. It does not replace those calculators.

About this calculator
Uses the same balanced PDU current and UPS energy screen as the existing pages. Open PDU sizing for phase currents, UPS runtime for a full battery case, and step-down transformer sizing for the hall transformer. Hub: power calculators.
Result
Planning estimate. Confirm phase currents, battery runtime, and the transformer frame on the linked pages.
Continue Your Calculation
Open UPS runtime for the battery case. Measured phase currents stay on the PDU sizing page. Generator and cooling stay on their existing pages.
What stays on existing pages
| Check | Where |
|---|---|
| Phase imbalance | PDU sizing |
| Generator | Generator size |
| Cooling airflow | Rack cooling |
Formula
I = kW × 1000 ÷ (√3 × V × PF) × (1 + margin). kW/rack = IT kW ÷ rack count. Example: 100 kW, 10 racks, 415 V, PF 0.95, 20% margin.
Worked example
100 kW across 10 racks is 10 kW/rack. The PDU line is the balanced current after margin. The transformer line is the next standard frame at or above planning kVA.
FAQ
Does this replace the PDU calculator?
No. Measured phase currents stay on the PDU sizing page.
Where is generator sizing?
Not checked here. Use the generator size calculator.
Where is rack cooling?
Not checked here. Use the rack cooling airflow page.
