PPR and CPR convention

This page defines PPR as cycles per revolution on one encoder channel. CPR is the count after applying the selected edge decoding. Datasheets use these labels inconsistently, so identify the manufacturer's convention first.

Can PPR be fractional?

No. This calculator requires a whole number of pulse cycles per revolution.

No. The once-per-revolution index channel is not included.

Why might the counter miss pulses?

Bandwidth, input filtering, signal integrity, wiring and edge-mode configuration can limit reliable counting.
